The Indian stock market saw a decline on Thursday (October 13) i.e. on the fourth trading day. The Sensex closed at 57,235, down 390 points. Nifty closed 109 points lower at 17,014. 22 out of 30 Sensex stocks fell. At the same time, only 8 stocks saw a rise.
Wipro and Adani Ports Top Losers
12 stocks including HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, Coal India, Dr Reddy, Tata Motors, Britannia, Grasim, Reliance, Hindalco were the gainers of Nifty-50. On the other hand, 36 stocks including Wipro, Adani Ports, SBI, SBI Life, ICICI Bank, LT, UPL, Asian Paints, HDFC Life were Nifty losers. There was no change in the shares of NTPC and M&M.
Decline in realty and banking sector
Out of 11 sectoral indices of NSE, only 3 were up. Media, metal and pharma sectors saw marginal gains. Apart from these, there was a decline in realty, private banks, banks, auto, financial services, IT, PSU banks and FMCG sectors.
Gold rises and silver falls, rupee weakens
On the other hand, today there was a rise in gold and a fall in silver in the bullion market. 24 carat gold closed at Rs 50,869 per 10 grams. Talking about silver, it has reached Rs 57,086 per kg. Today the rupee has weakened by 6 paise against the dollar.
The market was closed on Wednesday
Earlier on Wednesday, there was a rally in the market. The Sensex closed at 57,625, up 478 points. Nifty had gained 147 points to reach 17,130.
